Explosion in Oslo and a shooting massacre at a youth camp shock Norwegians

Major explosion has rocked Oslo around 15.20 CET this afternoon. Police has now confirmed that the explosion was caused by a bomb. Eight people have been confirmed dead and at scores injured. A government building housing PM's office has been damaged. Prime minister Jens Stoltenberg is safe according to government sources.

Norwegian oil ministry building reportedly caught fire.Police is asking people to stay out of the area. Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation NRK's report has pictures from the city center.

Some time later a gunman opened fire at a youth camp in Utøya island, reportedly killing at least 68 people. Prime minister Stoltenberg was scheduled to attend a Labour party youth conference on the island later on. The suspect has been caught and he is said to be a right-wing religious extremist from Eastern Norway. He is suspected to be behind both attacks, which would rule out international terrorism.
