Max Bank and Møns Bank down on rumours in the press

Small Danish banks were once again under pressure as word of distress faced by the hotel owner and investor Henrik Schimming hit the newswires. Newspaper Jyllands Posten wrote that Danish government body for taxes brought a 15 million claim to the businessman and his company Dema Holding A/S, which according to the magazine puts him in danger of bankruptcy. Jyllands Posten identified Max Bank (CPH: MAX) and Møns Bank (CPH: MNBA) as having considerable exposure.

Henrik Schimming is a major owner in Green Wind Energy A/S (CPH: GW), which has declared for bankruptcy and is attempting reorganization. After the bell Møns Bank, which was down 3.7% today, vehemently denied any exposure or previous losses from dealings with the customer saying it has not lost and will not lose any money as implied in the article.
