Karvinen hasn't noticed any major negative shift in market conditions during the past month

Stora Enso’s (OMX: STERV) CEO Jouko Karvinen gave an interview to Reuters news agency. He said that the conditions haven’t changed from a month ago. Already in the interim report, Karvinen said that signs of a slowdown are crystal clear. The Chinese have come back to the pulp market and Stora Enso continues to benefit from high prices and price increases forlong fibre are happening as we speak.

Karvinen said that European paper demand has reached a ”new normal”, meaning there is little or no chance or a return to 2008 levels. He positions that another major slowdown might make more advertizing-driven media to shift to digital publishing. All and all Karvinen says Stora Enso will be able to cope thanks to strenght in not only pulp but also in consumer packaging
