Cold front from Siberia is forecasted to spread to the entire Europe this week. Such an event will easily stop construction work and other economic activity in many places and sadly can also put lives in danger. It seems nearly the entire continent might have subzero temperatures towards the end of the week with temperatures well below minus 20 or even minus 30 degrees Celcius forecasted for much of Eastern and Northern Europe. As the cold front meets warmer air mass and warm sea heavy snowfall can result, which would also cause major travel disturbances. These can be expected particularly in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Atmospheric pressure in the current system is very high, In Sweden and Finland the pressure is currently at its highest levels in decades. Local barometer is currently approaching 1060 hPa (mbar = hPa), which is very close to all time highs. Highest pressure on record from Sweden is a 1063.7 reading from Visby in 1907 and Finland's all time record of 1066 hPa is also from 1907. Highest air pressure ever recorded is 1085.6 from Mongolia 10 years ago, with numbers close to that also recorded on sea-level in Siberia. Average atmospheric pressure on sea-level is around 1013 mbar.
