Planned merger of Vestjysk Bank and Aarhus Lokalbank

After Vestjysk Bank (CPH: VJBA) announced it was considering turning to the state, it started receiving plenty of support from its customers. Today the bank could communicate that it is initiating a voluntary conversion of state hybrid capital.

The bank also said that Vestjysk Bank and Aarhus Lokalbank (CPH: AARHUS) are contemplating a merger and implementation of capital plan as a continuing entity. After the markets had chewed the news for a while, Vestjysk Bank turned sharply positive and has now climbed nearly 40%. Aarhus Lokalbank has fared even better with a 75% pop. Further details are here.
