Nokia joins clean Congo minerals initiative

Nokia (OMX: NOK1V) has joined the 'Solutions for Hope'- Initiative according to a release from passive components and interconnect solutions maker AVX Corporation. This initiative aims to make sure that validated conflict-free tantalum from the Democratic Republic of Congo is used in the products of the participating companies. A secure supply chains is used to ensure that.

The so called blood-minerals have become a hotter topic as of late. Nokia has previously been criticized for possible using conflict minerals. The company has responded that nobody can be 100% sure all the time on the origins of the materials. That stance seems to have changed toward trying to reach for that 100% certainty and the company has a comprehensive program going on to strive for just that.
