American news magazine U.S. News & World Report is well known for its ranking lists. Norwegian capital Oslo had the dubious honour to be mentioned among the “places not to visit in 2012”. The digital publication lambasted the city for its hotel prices and cold weather.
The entire Scandinavia got a similar verdict and St. Petersburg was given as a better alternative. Perhaps slightly incoherently Copenhagen was chosen number 13 among the best places to visit in Europe. The magazines “world’s best places to visit”- list is mighty West-centric for this year with a clean sweep for North America and Europe in top ten.
