Farstad Shipping ASA (OSE: FAR) noted minutes ago that it has reached an agreement with STX OSV AS to build two UT 731 CD type Anchor Handling / Offshore Service vessels (AHTS). They are designed by Rolls Royce Marine and are off similar design as four previously delivered newbuilds from STX OSV Langsten and have a total length of 87.4 metres and breadth of 21 metres.
The vessels will be aimed for deepwater activities. The steel hulls are to be built in Romania and outfitting will be in STX OSV Langsten in Tomrefjord. Delivery is expected in Q1 2014. The value of the contract is about 1.2 billion NOK, pushing current Farstad newbuilds under construction value to 4.4 billion.
