Finnish media is reporting that Kainuu police has received a notice of a death in Talvivaara Minining (OMX: TLV1V, LSE:TALV) site. Police has opened an investigation. The company says it will release more information later today. Police has said it will give more information at 15.00 local time.

Police is suspecting that the death was caused by a work-related accident. The deceased is under 40 year old male, who collapsed suddenly according to eye-witnesses. Police found traces of Hydrogen sulphide on the scene and is continuing to investigate the cause of death.

Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes) said in a press release that it has set up a team to investigate the events leading to the casualty. The team of investigators is to look into the chain of events and to try to find out the reason behind the elevated levels of hydroxen sulphide. The report will be ready at the end of June.
