YIT active in St. Petersburg

YIT (OMX: YTY1V) said in a press release just before market close that the company has started to selling flats at several locations in St. Petersburg, Russia. The Finland-based construction & services company is building a so called Suomi (”Finland”) residential building complex comprising of 360 flats on a two tower format with comfort category apartments in another and business category in another on Vasili Island. The project is expected to be complete in 2015.

YIT has been active in Russia for quite a long time already but recently the scope of its operations there has grown substantially. The company also said that it is building its fifth and sixth blocks in Vyborgskiy district. These will have a total of 385 comfort category apartments. These will be ready in 2013. The company plans to further increase construction volumes in different St. Petersburg areas.
