Pressure mounts on Finnair head as police investigation concludes

Finnair (OMXH: FIA1S) released information stating that the police investigation into an apartment deal of Finnair’s CEO Mika Vehviläinen also involving pension insurance firm Ilmarinenhas concluded. The material will be handed to prosecutor for indictment process and they will make the decision whether to bring formal charges. Both Vehviläinen and the Board of Directors expressed delight that the process will be thoroughly investigated.

Minister Heidi Hautala has already made government’s position public: she said that if Vehviläinen is charged with a crime, he should be let go. Helsinki police told Yle that they suspects kickbacks received were unjustifiably received. Vehviläinen said he has received no improper gifts. According to Helsingin Sanomat, Finnair Chairman & Ilmarinen CEO Harri Sailas and former Chairman Christoffer Taxell are also suspected for accepting or giving bribes.
