Two people have died and seven injured, at least one of them critically, in a shooting spree in small Southern Finnish town of Hyvinkää in the wee hours this morning. The shooter is an 18-year old male who has been taken into custody. He has admitted guilt. The man appeared to be shooting people at random from the rooftop of a commercial building. The two rifles used in the shooting were legally owned by a member of his kin. No motive has been given yet.
Two people who have been killed, a man and a woman, were both only just 18 and would have celebrated their graduation from local vocational school within days. The deceased male was also a top level athlete in the local pesäpallo or Finnish baseball league. The critically injured young woman is a police officer who arrived first on the scene only around a minute after alarm. All of those injured are young adults according to media reports.
