Court of Appeals also finds Odd Nerdrum guilty

NTB noted that popular Norwegian figurative painter Odd Nerdrum is facing jail time after being found guilty of tax evasion by the Norwegian court of appeal. The prosecutors accused him of selling 14 million NOK worth of paintings around 10 years ago without reporting it to tax authorities. Nerdrum himself maintains his innocence and claims he instead had to settle what he calls a chemical mistake involving the quality of the paint used in a couple dozen works he had made previously either by redoing them or with cash. The Appeal court sided with the prosecutors and sentenced the artist to 2 years and 10 months in prison. A City court had earlier found him guilty of tax evasion of 10.5 million and given a 2-year sentence, which Nerdrum was now appealing
