Laiva mine production still lags, new boss, permit received

Laiva Mine in Raahe produced mere 90 kilos of gold, level with April production at 3 kilos per day. The company said that lower waste rock dilution in ore and changes in the processing plant that are being implemented mean that the Nordic Mines Ab (STO: NOMI) operated mine should have a good chance to reach current short-term target output of 5 kilos per day during the Summer. From that the aim is to double capacity. The company says that 5 kilo production would mean that it is able to handle all interest and repayments towards bank consortium.

A new general manager at tha Laiva mine was announced, with Tom Söderman joining the company from Boliden where he had held a similar position at the Garpenberg mine. Nordic Mines has received a permanent permit to lead processed waste water into the Bothnian Bay through a pipe that is already nearly complete. The company was ordered to pay a small annual compensation for damages to local fisheries. The permit will be reviewed in connection with a wider review of the environmental permit for the entire mine. The stock continued its fast retreat with another double-digit loss on Monday.
