U.S. government to order more vaccines from Bavarian Nordic

United States government expanded the population eligible to receive Bavarian Nordic’s (CPH: BAVA) IMVAMUNE smallpox vaccine in the event of an emergency. The government has Strategic National Stockpile of vaccines to combat a public health crisis caused by smallpox, for example due to a bioterrorist attack. IMVAMUNE was specifically developed to allow vulnerable populations not able to take conventional smallpox vaccination to be protected as well. New populations now added are people of all ages with HIV infection or atopic dermatitis (AD, one type of eczema) including children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers despite limited clinical data. The share advanced nearly 5% on the news on Wednesday.
