"Norwegian smoked salmon" Salmonella outbreak cause traced to Greece

The Salmonella-tainted patch of salmon originating from Norway that has sickened hundreds of people in the Netherlands and United States was apparently free of salmonella when leaving Norway, the local press reports. The Dutch company Foppen which sold the fish to retailers traced the source to one production line in their relatively new production facility in Preveza, Greece. Hundreds of people have been sickened and it is estimated that a several elderly people will lose their life as a result. The media has reported three casualties in the Netherlands at the time.
