Nordic billionaires 2013

Another edition of the Forbes list of billionaires has been released. This year 1426 people made the list of individuals with a net worth of more than one million U.S. Dollars. Last year Nordic countries boasted 20 entries according to citizenship (thus excluding individuals like John Fredriksen). This year that number has grown to 27. It is somewhat skewed by changes in the listing of Rausing family from mother Birgit to her three children. Overall most of the Nordic billionaires benefited from exchange rate gains and general appreciation in value of their holdings in 2012.

While nobody from Nordic countries fell of the list, those making it fresh are Anders Holch Povlsen from the fashion chain Bestseller, investor Carl Bennet whose main stake is in Getinge, Hanni Toosbuy Kasprzak from shoe manufacturer ECCO, hedge fund manager Andreas Halvorsen, and Bent Jensen from electric linear actuation company Linak.
