The last trading day of the week was rather flat in Nordic markets. Japenese Prime Minister Naoto Kan made changes to the Cabinet to try to boost his dwindling support. The new faces support fiscal consolidation and trade liberalization. The People's Bank of China is lifting banks’ reserve requirement ratio again, this time by 50 basis points, from Januar 20th. Brazil floods are also wreaking havoc. Tunisian President Zine al-Abedine Ben Ali has reportedly stepped down on Friday and has fled the country according to Al Jazeera.
Skanska received orders for two major healtcare project in Calidornia, new hospital in San Carlos Center healtcare facility for Palo Alto Medical Foundation and a renovation and expansion of a medical center in Bay Area. The contracts have a total value of 282 million USD. In a separate release, Skanska announced that it will contruct university buildings at the City University of New York in Harlem. This added another 92 million USD to Q4 2010 order bookings.
Norway Pelagic does not renew Bergen plant lease. The company aims to invest to- and focus on efficiency on its other production sites to offset the lost production resulting from the closure of NP Bergen. The company has previously made clear that it sees consolidation in the fish processing industry as essential. The rhetoric from today’s release would seem to hint that will be pursued with renewed vigor.
Cargotec will deliver two Kalmar ship-to-shore (STS) cranes and 24 Kalmar rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes worth a total of around 40 million Euro to a Columbian long-term customer. Kongsberg Gruppen’s contract with the US Army under the CROWS II framework was increased and the company also received additional spares and repairs from the military. Simtronics ASA signed a frame afreement with Lyondellbasell for the supply of catalytic and infrared gas detectors.
