AAK acquires American food products manufacturer

Vegetable oils and fats producer AarhusKarlshamn AB (OMX: AAK) has decided to acquire privately held food products manufacturer Oasis Food Company, which hails from Hillside, New Jersey, United States. This increases AAK’s presence in the region and gives it a wide variety of products such as dressings, margarine, spreads, shortenings, vinegars, edible oils, mayonnaise, sauces, and other items.

The acquisition fits areas deemed strategically important for further growth of AAK. Oasis currently employs around 160 people and had revenues of 925 million Swedish kronor or around 130 million U.S. Dollars last year. Its President Anthony Alves will continue in the same role going forward. The acquisition is effective from today and will have a limited impact on 2012 operating profit.
