Local companies win more contracts for Finnish Parliament underground facilities

According to the Finnish parliament office commission and the company, Lemminkäinen Oyj (OMXH: LEM1S) has won a contract for interior finishing work for the construction of underground facilities of Finnish Parliament. The project value is nearly 28 million Euros and it is expected to run from this June until 2014. Lemminkäinen had previously completed the demolition of old underground premises and excavated bedrock for more building space. The company feels this contract is a natural continuation of that work.

Back in 2007 it was estimated that the renovation work might cost up to 100 million in its entirety. Since then the scope of the work was increased. Currently the estimate is at 200.4 million Euros, which is still considerably higher than even estimates for the increased amount of tasks. The new premises will include the majority of logistic functions of the Parliament including goods intake, storage and waste handling. The completion of the entire project is targeted for 2017. It was also decided that an elevator project for C building will be ordered from Kone Oyj (OMX: KNEBV). This 760 440 Euro contract will include 5-year service. An option for elevator projects at the Parliament house and D-building is included but the decision for those will be made later.
