Swedish engineering firm Atlas Copco (OMX: ATCO A, ATCO B) has agreed to acquire german tool maker Saltus-Werk Max Forst GmbH for an undisclosed price. The Solingen-based company has a near 100-year history and currently employs 65 people. Last year its sales were around 8 million Euros. Expected closing of the acquisition is in May this year.
Its products are mainly various kinds of torque wrenches with multiple types of electronic, mechatronic and signal emitting solutions available in addition to standard mechanical types. The company also has a software offering and its own accredited calibration laboratory.. Torque wrenches are used when it is imperative to maintain certain level of tightness of screws or bolts. Saltus customers come from a variety of industries such as automobile, mechanical and systems engineering and aerospace engineering.
