Danish tax authority claims Jonhson Controls owes it more than a billion
Borsen.dk reports that the Danish tax authority SKAT has said that multinational conglomerate Johnson Controls, Inc. (NYSE: JCI) owes 1.1 billion kroner (almost 200 million USD) to the Danish treasury in taxes. This relates to value transfers concerning immaterial rights associated to an acquired company Sabroe Refrigiration that were done in 2006. The company has appealed to the The Danish National Tax Tribunal, arguing that even if the matter is debatable, the mentioned sum is far too large. Nordic countries in general are starting to take a tougher stance on multinational conglomerates that tend to very rarely show a profit from operations here.
